IFDS Executive Committee SKYPE Meeting
Wednesday 28 March 2012
During the IFDS Executive Committee SKYPE Meeting, the following points were discussed:
1 An International Blind Match Racing event will be held on 18-23 June 2012, Lovere, Iseo Lake, Italy. This event will be in conjunction with the Italian National Championships and the IFDS Technical Delegate for this event will be Henry Sleutel. (Further information about this event can be found in the article below).
2 Preparations continue for the 2012 Paralympic Sailing Competition; a request for athletes to be housed at the athletes’ village during Sail for Gold as a trial run was regretfully denied because of uncertainty about the readiness and availability of the village.
3 Because of business pressures, David Staley has stepped down as Technical Delegate for the IFDS Fleet Racing Championships to be held in Japan in 2013; Henry Sleutel will replace him in that position.
4 Peter Wood reports continued discussion of inclusion of at least one Paralympic class in the ParaPan Americans in Toronto in 2015. He also reported an expression of interest from Norway to host an IFDS World Championship in the next Quadrennium.
5 Cooperation between IFDS and ISAF in regards to the procedures required by WADA is on-going.
6 IFDS Executive Committee members were reminded to be aware of deadlines for submissions to IFDS and ISAF Annual General Meetings.
7 IFDS Vice-Presidents, John Twomey and Wilfried Klein will attend the ISAF Mid-Year Meeting, Stresa, Italy.
8 The re-development of www.ifds.org for use as a tool for development of programs was discussed.
9 IFDS extends thanks to David Staley for his preparation of the 2011 IFDS Annual Report.
The full minutes will be available on the website shortly.
