Italia 1198 fuoriserie
Following the success of the Italia 9.98 both in the racing fields but also on the fast cruising market (30 boats sold so far all over the world) I was asked to design a bigger size similar concept boat in order to fill a market segment with no many other products available. The idea was to combine a proper racing machine capable of winning in top international rating events with a bigger and more cruising functional interior. The bar was risen quite a bit so the design process has been long and challenging. Extensive CFD work has been done for improving hull shape especially in the low wind range. A lot of effort was put in the deck layout to allow ergonomic and functional geometries for both racing and cruising but without compromising the aesthetic aggressive look. All the jib system purchases have been recessed under coachroof covers for deck cleanness.
The first three boats have been launched just over the last 2 months and at the moment 7 boats have been sold. Two boats raced at the ORC world championship in Croatia and Sugar 3 managed to win the gold medal in the very competitive class C despite a short preparation time.
