Familiar Territory For Belcher And Page

Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page (AUS) end the third day of Men’s 470 racing in the familiar top spot, four points clear of Great Britain’s Luke Patience and Stuart Bithell.

The Australians had a fantastic day on the water taking both race wins as they made it three in a row for eight points. “It’s a great position to be in,” said Belcher. “We haven’t lost an event all year and that gives us great confidence, we feel very comfortable in the yellow jersey, it’s not going to stop us sleeping at night but we’re also experienced enough to know that there’s still four races to go.”

Reach muy cerrado izamos los tres y viendo que no daba lo arriamos a mitad reach pasando al ingles y casi al aus.

Snakes And Ladders In 49er But Australians Remain Firm

Australia’s Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen remain at the top of the 49er leader board whilst those around them shuffled around after three races in front of a packed Nothe spectator area.

With three steady performances Peter Burling and Blair Tuke (NZL) closed the gap on the Australians to nine points having started the day 17 points behind and third overall. Burling said, “We need to stay close to the Australians and we did that. We just need to keep doing what we’re doing and not get too excited.”

Fired Up Ainslie Closes The Gap On Hogh-Christensen

Ben Ainslie (GBR) brought Jonas Hogh-Christensen’s (DEN) ten point lead down to three on an exciting day of Finn racing that didn’t escape the drama.
Ainslie won Race 7 convincingly despite early pressure from Rafa Trujillo (ESP) and Pieter-Jan Postma (NED) later on in the race. The Dane was unable to keep up with Ainslie’s downwind speed and midway through the race the Dane capsized and slipped to 15th, but was able to recover to finish eighth. Hogh Christensen said, “There was big waves and strong breeze and a second of not paying attention and hitting a bad wave you capsize.”

Blows Traded By Brits And Brazilians

Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson (GBR) and Robert Scheidt and Bruno Prada (BRA) traded blows in the Star today with both crews winning a race and finishing second in the other.
With the discard coming into play the Brits have a four point lead at the top of the leader board over the Brazilians having put their 11th in Race 1 behind them to sail consistently. With a narrow advantage the Brits remain wary, “We would like to extend the gap. Four points is just two places in the medal race when the points are doubled. There are so any good people in the fleet. All we can do is paddle to the end. We are definitely here to defend our title but it is going to be a fight to the end.”
